Patrick Tresset: "Animals, Man, Machine: Artificial Studies. - Human Study #2

Patrick Tresset is known for his performative installations. In those, robots participate as drawing machines, developed by the artist himself.
In his work, Tresset explores human characteristics. It reflects recurring ideas that are closely connected to being human like childhood, possessiveness, nervousness, as well as the need to tell stories and set examples.
Tresset’s exhibition Human Study #2 for the donumenta e.V. is inspired by the baroque idea of the Vanitas. His installation uses a variety of animal specimens by the Natural History Museum Ostbayern. A nervously drawing robot draws a seemingly endlessly updating Vanitas image. The robot is based on Tresset’s style and technique but the machine acts like an independent artist who produces autonomous interpretations. The audience can observe the robot while it draws several arrangements of the artefacts.
