AiR Interventions
Since its establishment in 2002, donumenta e.V. is involved in the international culture exchange between the countries of the Danube region. To support this dialogue and integration within the region with the means of contemporary art, the association develops and uses new, innovative formats of cross-border encounters, presentations, and exchanges. The donumenta e.V. in that, stands for recent art from the countries of the Danube region: multimedia, performance, installation, photography, painting, crossover – no boundaries. It established and presents Regensburg as a hub of international cultural exchange along the Danube and contributes to the profile of the World Heritage City as a place of contemporary art. Regensburg is a space for dialogue and resonance in which donumenta reaches a wide variety of social groups beyond its own echo group. The registered non-profit association was founded in Regensburg in 2002 after actions by artists against war and expulsion along the Danube and has successfully implemented numerous international projects since 2002.
With HERITAGE TODAY/TOMORROW as the theme of the Artist in Residence program, donumenta e.V. calls on international artists to engage in a contemporary examination of the historical heritage of the World Heritage City of Regensburg. The central topic is the current challenges and future tasks. At the present time, this project focuses on the historical heritage of all epochs from the perspective of artists from the Danube countries. To do this, donumenta e.V. has invited numerous artists from the EU Danube Region in 2019, 2020, 2021 and invites further artists in 2022 to Regensburg for a four-week stay as part of its AiR program.
The project ideas developed during the stay on this topic are to be realized as temporary in-situ installations.
